Marcelo is a unique horseman that has been successful in Reining ( 2018 World Ranking n1 FEI), in Cowhorse (2022 AZRCHA Open Hackamore champion & 2023 ApHC Junior Cowhorse R. World Champion) and I’m Working Equitation (Winer of 2022 Level 7 Masters at the IALHA Nationals).
As a professional sports person and horse trainer, Marcelo is activetly producing new horses on a program that’s based in the old Spanish Jineta, Classical Dressage, Natural Horsemanship and the Vaquero Style inherited from multi world champion Al Dunning’s team AD accreditation program.
Marcelo’s program focuses on sport horses that will excel in the show pen as Reiners or cowhorses when young but also as working Equitation prospects once they are mature enough.
As a coach, Marcelo helps his non-pros to win according to their horse quality and level with proven results every time they step in the arena.
As a horse artist, Marcelo deals personally with every horse and his program goes from Colt Starting to finished Performance Sport Horses. He has very limited openings in order to give his horses the time needed to keep them self mentally and physically sound in order to perform at their best in the show Ring

A short story of our trainer
Marcelo is a fourth generation Open Rider with a very successful all around english and western career. After several years of learning between Chile, Australia, England, Italy and USA, Marcelo archived many national championships in Chilean Rodeos and reached the nº1 in the 2018 FEI Reining World Ranking as he qualifies for his second time to the FEI World Equestrian Games on May 2018. In 2019 Marcelo and his imported stud “Lil´Rockstar” moved to the USA earning the 2019 Year End Novice Horse Champion of the KRHA and the Year end Multi Open Champion of The CPRHA on 2020. Also on 2020, Marcelo became the last ‘‘Al Duning’s Team AD International Accredited Trainer’’. On 2021 Marcelo Focused in starting new generations of champions that placed in many open events in AZ and the 2022 highlights where becoming level 7 masters in Working Equitation and 2022 AZRCHA Open Hackamore Champion. 2023 was also a great year since Marcelo became 3yo ApHC Cowhorse Incentive World Champion and Junior Cowhorse Res. World Champion.
Nowadays, Marcelo is established in FRAZEYSBURG, OHIO in comfortable weather proof facilities with everything needed to train, show and sell world class performance horses, year round.
Horse Training
We go from COLT STARTING TO FINISHED SPORT HORSES based on solid ground work to establish a relationship of trust and respect with the young horses. We take our time on the ground work to transform the "untouched colts" into safe and dependable horses with excellent ground manners. We then move on to a step by step solid foundation under the saddle combining both English & Western techniques that will allow the young horse to learn rythm, relaxation, connection, impulsion, straightness and finally collection without loosing their natural temperament. This will help the young horse excel with ease in any discipline as a multi-functional horse that will last longer in time.
Marcelo develops a training program for each horse focused on growing individual talents and improving weak spots. He prefers to start 2 Y.O. untouched horses to teach them the proper foundation from the ground up until they become Reiners, Cowhorses, Working Equitation finished horses . Marcelo believes he must always reward the will before giving it the shape he wants. He knows that horses will have to trust us to become our partners and for your horse to reach it’s full potential, he will need to exercise their mind & heart, while training specific parts of their body. It takes time under a consistent and rational plan to reach this point of harmony between mind, heart and body.

We train horses with a clear purpose which is making them fit their own rider, as the old “jineta style” trainers did for their kings in the past, nowadays, we do it for our riders so they can excel with their horses.
Marcelo and Lil’ Rockstar

Being the fourth generation of a family of successful riders, Marcelo knew from a very young age that he wanted to become a world class horseman. He won various awards early in his show career in Show Jumping, Rodeo Chileno (Chilean cow horse) and Chilean reining.
He began his western career in Australia at the age of 15 by starting colts and competing in both youth and open cutting shows. It was there that he learned the “horse language” from Maureen Rogers at Just Crackin´s Quarter Horse Stud. Marcelo credits the “land down under” for starting his life-long journey of learning natural horsemanship.
At the age of 25 he felt fulfilled in having achieved all the goals he had breaking in colts with natural horsemanship methods and in competing at a high level in Rodeo Chileno winning many national titles.
His unquenching thirst for horse knowledge took him to several clinics from World Class horsemen such as Jeff Johnson (AUS) Chico Ramirez (MX), Doug Milholland (USA), Jango Salgado (BRA), Joe Heyes (USA), Greg Darnall (USA), Leonardo Feitosa (BRA), and more, but it was in Arizona under Al Dunning's advice and mentoring when he decides to focus on western disciplines, beginning on the Reining sport to start his route as a world class horseman.
During his first season competing reining horses as a professional, he qualified for the 2014 World Equestrian Games on Michelita Esperto, a horse bred by his grandfather Manuel Recart and trained for Chilean Reining and Chilean Rodeo by Humberto de la Fuente and later on, Esperto was transitioned to FEI Reining by Marcelo.
To deepen his knowledge in the western and english industries, Marcelo went to improve himself in Europe. He greatly enjoyed riding and learning the finesse of the European style reining and animal welfare from the multi british champion Lee Rutter, at Oakridge Quarter Horses owned by Lita Pocock.
In 2017 he returned to Chile sponsored by the Chilean Horse Breeders National Federation & Haras Santa Amaya of Mr. Juan Carlos Urquidi, with the goal of selecting one purebred Chilean horse and training it to qualify for the 2018 WEG.
2018 was a very memorable year for Marcelo since he qualified for second time to the Chilean National Reining Team, but also because he sat the new Chilean National Reining Record riding the selected Chilean Stud “Lil Rockstar’’ while reaching the #1 position at the early 2018 FEI Reining World Rankings.
2019 Marcelo moved to America and had his first NRHA Earnings at on Novice Horse Reining Classes at the 2018 NRBC’s & NRHA Derby riding under the coaching of his former boss, NRHA Milton Dollar Rider, Todd Sommers. Same year, Marcelo and Little Rockstar became KRHA Novice Horse Open I year en Champions.
CPRHA 2020 Multy Open Champion
In 2020, Marcelo finished his second year in the US being the Year End Multi-Open Champion at the Central Plains Reining Horse Association and getting certified as a Trainer by his mentor Al Dunning.
2021 was great year with success in the Cowhorse and Reining pen mostly schooling 2020 babies and getting ready for a very bussy 2022.
2022 was a great year for our program, winning the IALHA Open Masters level 7 in the WORKING EQUITATION on the pure bred Chilean stud Lil’ Rockstar who was also year end reserve champion in the prestigious AZWE.
In Cowhorse 2022 was also an extraordinary year for Marcelo’s program and Owner JoDee Peterson from WI who’s Purebred Chilean stud “PSR Counterfait Chrome” that was purchased from Marcelo on 2021 ended up adding NRCHA earnings and crowned the the 2022 season as AZRCHA OPEN HACKAMORE CHAPION.
2023 was also a great year for Marcelo’s program since Rip (One Destined Gun) owned by Dan Wallace from IA and shown by Marcelo, became 3yo ApHC Cowhorse Incentive Champion and Junior Cowhorse Res. World Champion riding at the 2023 ApHC Worlds Show.
